Whether you have a new puppy, an adult dog, or a senior dog, wellness care is the key to keeping your dog healthy for years to come. Our veterinarians recommend annual exams for puppies and adult dogs, and biannual exams for senior dogs. The wellness exam is an opportunity for you to discuss any questions or concerns you may have about your dog’s health. We can review topics such as weight and nutrition, dental care, mobility issues, age related changes, and vaccinations. During the annual exam, your pet's eyes, ears, skin, heart, digestive and skeletal system are examined for abnormalities. Based on the physical exam findings, we may recommend diagnostic testing to assess your pet's kidneys, liver, pancreas and endocrine system, including thyroid and endocrine glands. If necessary we have the capabilities to perform in-house diagnostic imaging such as x-ray and ultrasound. At Mayfair Animal Hospital, we believe in creating individualized wellness care plans that specifically address your dog’s needs based on factors such as breed, physical condition, lifestyle, and immunization history.
On the day of your pet’s wellness appointment, we ask that you bring a stool sample (preferably less than twelve hours old) with your dog on a leash. We also recommend that you bring medical files such as previous vaccination records if this is your dog’s first visit with us.
